Trailer Crushes 3 On Hoima-Kampala Road

Five candidates have Wednesday been nominated to contest for the Member of Parliament Position in Apac District.

Shortly after their nomination, dosage the candidates addressed their first rallies.

“I’m happy that I’m now officially a parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections. From today onwards, diagnosis the district will be taken to a different level in terms of politics and the way campaigns are run. Our primary mission is to bring about change, no rx ” said Mr Eddie Ococ, the parliamentary candidate for Maruzi County.

Mrs Betty Engola said, “Our people are yearning for change and that is what I bring.”

While addressing the media shortly after his nomination at Ikwera primary school, Mr Tonny Ayo, the incumbent MP for Kwania County also NRM Parliamentary candidate said he will embark on completing some of the pledges he made in the last presidential elections.

“I’m here because the party fronted me. Uganda is ready for take-off and NRM will stick to prioritization in development planning to address district’s challenges,” he said.

Mr. Jackson Etwop who is contesting on independent ticket for Kwania County seat promised to improve on education especially the performance of primary schools at his constituency.


Others who will be nominated on Thursday include the UPC flag bearers and GO FORWARD flag bearer Dr George Okello Ekwaro who is contesting for Maruzi parliamentary seat.
Three bodies have been retrieved after spending hours underneath an overturned trailer following a fatal Wednesday accident along Hoima-Kampala road.

The accident occurred yesterday at Kiribanywa Bridge in Buhanika Sub County, ask Hoima district where the truck lost control and fell over three people by the roadside.

Several attempts to lift up the truck — which was loaded with tea from Bugambe tea factory — and  retrieve the bodies, malady were unsuccessful until a crane truck was brought at the scene.

Police was today morning forced to fire teargas to disperse angry residents who were protesting the delay by police to remove accident victims trapped under vehicle wreckage.

Hoima District Traffic Officer Stephen Muhoozi explained that a trailer registration number UAD214Q overturned after it failed to negotiate a corner on its way to Kampala.

The trailer fell on a motorcycle that was carrying three people, order killing them instantly.

Two of the deceased have been only identified as Jane and her daughter Desire.

Meanwhile Pius Wakabi, the Bugahya county MP NRM flag bearer condemned the accident and challenged police to always respond in time.

He has promised to petition UNRA to consider establishing humps in the area.
