Town Clerk, Prison Warder In Trouble Over Forgery Of Academic Papers



A Prison warder attached to Kirinya Prison in Jinja District is in trouble for allegedly uttering false academic documents to join the Service.

Ms Aisha Nyirira presented an Ordinary level Certificate of Education indicating she scored four credits to get the job in 2015, a September 14 letter from the Inspector General of Government (IGG) reads in part.

The letter, addressed to the Commissioner of Prisons and signed by the Deputy IGG, Ms Mariam Wangadya, directs the immediate dismissal and deletion of Ms Nyirira from the payroll.

According to the IGG, Ms Nyirira sat for her Uganda Certificate of Education from Kabwangasi Secondary School where she only obtained two credits.

Meanwhile, former Maga Maga Town Council Assistant Town Clerk, Ms Fatwinah Namuwaya, has been fined Shs 500,000 for forging academic papers.

Ms Namuwaya was found guilty of the April 13, 205 offense by Anti-corruption Court Judge, Justice Patricia Amoko.

Ms Namuwaya presented a forged degree transcript in Public Administration from Kyambogo University and dragged to the Court by the Inspector General of Government (IGG).

She pleaded guilty before the IGG and resigned her job but Court continued with her prosecution until Justice Amoko sentenced her to six months in prison or a fine of Shs 500,000.
