“This year’s celebrations will focus on Uganda’s Wildlife richness which has also won us numerous global accolades,” he said.

While addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center on Friday, Prof Kamuntu revealed that the Ministry has organized a series of events leading to the wildlife day celebrations.

Some of the lined up events are: The Uganda Wildlife marathon, Nakawa Market clean up, Launch of Wildlife pets report, wild life conservation quiz and many others.

Kamuntu urged Ugandans to protect wild animals and passed a strict warning to poachers.

“Uganda’s Wildlife is a heritage, when one kills a wild animal they create an imbalance in the concentration of wildlife, animals and plants hat live in the wild which all contribute to the ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, culture and recreation aspects of human well behind and sustainable development”

The World Wildlife day was proclaimed on December 20th 2013 during the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly aimed at celebrating and raising awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants.
