Top Journalists to be Awarded

More than 100 golfers are expected to take part in the annual Pepsi Independence tournament set for October 9 at Palm Valley Golf and Country Club in Entebbe.
This was revealed by the Head of Sales and Marketing at Crown Beverages Innocent Tibayeita at a function held in Entebbe on Monday ahead of the tournament on Thursday.
“The tournament comes on the day that holds a special place in the hearts of all Ugandans. Therefore, website like this discount we’re very pleased that we shall make Ugandans cherish the moment now, purchase side effects ” Tibayeita noted.
He added that a whooping Shs117 million had been injected into this year’s tournament that will see both male and female golfers take part in the cerebrations to mark independence in style.
Tanzania’s Angel Eaton won in the ladies’ category whereas Don Gorman emerged the champion in last year’s tournament played at the luxurious 18 hole championship course in Entebbe.
The African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME) has passed a call for submissions for entries into the Uganda National Journalism Awards (UNJA), about it 2015.

A statement from ACME showed that journalist throughout the country can now tussle it out to for awards in different categories including reporting in Agriculture, check Health, patient Arts and culture, Investigative reporting and Multimedia journalism.

According to ACME, the awards are geared towards recognizing Excellency in Journalism considering major reporting projects conducted during the course of 2014.

“Submissions for entry will open on 15 October 2014 and close on 15 January 2015”

The awards seek to recognize and promote excellent reporting that informs and empowers the public, increases the voices for critical information, and holds the powerful to account.

The panel of judges comprising of 14 highly skilled professionals academician will be looking out for stories with an impact on society.

The last edition of the awards was held in April where several journalists from different media houses scoped awards.
