Democratic Party Senior National Council member Bernard has Monday quit his position and left the opposition party.
Ology this morning wrote to the Ag. DP Secretary General Siranda announcing his resignation and decision to join the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“I joined the Democratic Party in 2016 in hopes of creating a political power that would serve the needs of the people of Aruu North County, Pader district, Acoli sub region and Uganda as a whole. Unfortunately, this was not the case.,” he said.
“In exercise of my constitutional and legal rights to belong to a political party of my choice and guided by law, I wish to resign my position of National Council member as well as cease to be a member of the Democratic Party. My decision to quit Democratic Party comes after a long period of consultation with my constituents. In quitting DP, I am putting the people of Aruu North first.”
Ology says he’ll be going back to the NRM “the party that my father, the late Ambassador J.D. Obina Okumu built, fought and sacrificed for and consolidated in Northern Uganda especially in Acoli sub region from 1980 until his death in December 1999.”
Ology is said to have eyes on his home area’s parliamentary seat.
The Aruu North County seat is currently held by FDC’s Lucy Aciro Otim.
