Toilet Crisis at Rubanda Health Center

Patients and health workers at Hamurwa Health Centre IV in Hamurwa Town Council in Rubanda district are in fear of a major disease outbreak due to lack of a toilet.

Chimpreports was at the health facility this week and found that the only toilet there is full; the sewage system is broken and to fecal material is flowing across the compound.

Health workers told us any time, price cholera, dysentery or typhoid could break out at the facility if nothing is done.

The Rubanda district leaders led by the Rubanda LC5 boss Kenneth Biryabareema Jogo were shocked when they visited the health center and saw its situation.

This prompted the LC5 boss Biryabareema to order the district senior assistant secretary Bernard Kasangaki who represented the CAO, to find funds to empty the hospital’s toilet.

Dr. Brian Twinamatsiko the Rubanda district Director of Health Services also told the team that the facility lacks bed sheets as well as blankets for the patients.

The area MP Henry Ariganyira Musasizi also promised to lobby to see that government provides more
blankets and bed sheets to the Health Center.
