
Uganda’s celebrated kickboxing scribe Titus Tugume clinched the Intercontinental championship belt after defeating 17-year old American John Camacho in a closely contested fight on New Year’s Eve at Speke Resort in Munyonyo.
Prior to the fight, the Ugandan hard rock, and serving warranty UPDF officer (Star II) weighed 77.65 Kgs gaining a 4 kg difference over the American (73.75 kgs).
Tugume saw off his counterpart with a Technical knockout as early as the third round in a K1 style contest after Camacho’s coach threw in the towel allowing the umpire Alphonso Kaka to end the fight prematurely.
Despite Camacho’s impressive start to the fight Tugume grow more into the context as we approached round two and three, with each lasting three minutes before the fight was called off.
“I’m really happy to have won this flight because I have been holding thorough trainings day in day out and wanted to make my bosses proud. I also thank my opponent who gave me a hard time and wasn’t an easy nut to crack. For my fans ans well wishers, I hope this victory will give me motivation ahead of my next challenges and wish everyone a happy new year,” said Tugume after being declared the winner.

Before the main bout, there were eight undercards in the senior and the junior categories that entertained the 200 spectators who attended the event following the Standard Operating Procedures.
Both Tugume and Camacho will face off in a rematch scheduled to take place in the United States of America at a date and venue yet to be determined.
