Police in Isingiro district are investigating circumstances under which an ambulance was hijacked and occupants robbed of their property including money. The incident happened on Sunday.

The ambulance was returning from Mbarara regional Referral Hospital where it delivered a woman in labour.
They robbed Mr Tukasingura and other two occupants of their shoes, mobile telephones and Shs300,000. They were then forced to lie under the seats. The thugs drove the ambulance with the occupants and abandoned them in Booma Mbarara town. Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirmed the incident.
The ambulance was donated to Isingiro South constituents by the area MP Alex Byarugaba recently.
The incident follows another robbery incident on Tuesday night where two people were shot dead by marauding thugs in two armed robbery incidents in Nateete, a Kampala suburb. The suspects were able to flee from the scene without being identified.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Patrick Onyango, confirmed the shootings and the death of two people that happened around 11.22pm and midnight.
“During the robbery, the thugs fired a bullet that hit Rafael Walugembe, 23, who was in his house and died on spot. Another person who was killed in the first incident isn’t yet identified. Both bodies have been taken for a post-mortem,” SP Onyango said on Wednesday.
