Three Get 17 Year Jail Term for Robbing Bodaboda

High court judge Justice Wilson Kwesiga has sentenced three people who were convicted of using Chloroform in a robbery to 17 years in jail

The judge passed out the sentence to Joweria Kaweesi, Rachael Orishaba and Joseph Luswata saying it would deter other people from engaging in this criminal act which is on the rise in the country today.

Early this week court convicted the trio after they were found guilty of robbing a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle from Robert Sengooba on February 14th 2016 at Bunga, Makindye division in the Kampala district

Court heard that the convicts hired Sengooba and later administered chloroform to him through food, before making off with his motorcycle.

Justice Kwesiga noted that its court’s duty to protect members of the public from lawlessness

The convicts after receiving their sentence were informed of their right to appeal against both conviction and sentence within 15 days in case they are not contented

Indeed, through their lawyer Steven Senkeezi, they expressed interest to appeal.
