The Uganda People’s Defence Forces is providing free health services to hundreds of residents in Kyazanga District as part of the Civil-Military activities to mark the 40th Tarehe Sita anniversary.
The medical outreach camp stationed at Kyazanga Health Centre IV is offering services like general medical treatment under the outpatients department, treating dental cases, ophthalmology, surgical operations of unique cases like hydrocele and hernias and voluntary male circumcision.
Speaking during the camp, Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Basaaliza said the free medical services are a way through which the UPDF is expressing its appreciation to the community and a reminder that the UPDF is a Peoples’ Army.
At the same medical camp, the UPDF engineering brigade is also carrying out renovations and modifications of the Outpatients department.
Lieutenant Ali Kikomeko Kigongo, the site engineer, said that the remodeled OPD will have a pharmacy, store, injection room and special access to cater for people with disabilities.
Residents like Tumuhirwe Hasifa, who was a beneficiary of free eye care treatment and eye glasses distribution, praised the UPDF for exhibiting a high level of professionalism and effectiveness in the way they are handling the residents who are attending the free medical camp.
