Uganda Cranes and Azam FC right back Nicholas Wadada has been named the best defender of the 2019/2020 Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League season.
The pacy fullback was crowned during the awards gala held on Friday night at Mlimani City Hall.
Last season, Wadada had an superb performance for Azam, scoring one goal and making eight assists to help the club finish in the 3rd position.
To clinch the gong, the former Vipers captain edged Kagera Sugar’s David Luhende and Coastal Union’s Bakari Mwamnyeto who just recently signed for Yanga Africans.
Simba Sports Club and Zambia’s talisman Clautos Chama was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season.
Chama scored two goals and 10 assists helping Simba SC to clinch the league title while teammates Aishi Manula and Meddie Kagere were voted as the best goalkeeper and top scorer respectively.
Chama also went away with the gong for the best midfielder of the season while his coach Sven Vandenbroeck was named the best tactician.
