The National Resistance Movement-NRM party Electoral Commission chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi yesterday cautioned Member of Parliaments of Rubanda district and other leaders from Kabale district against campaigning for candidates ahead of today’s party primaries.
The party is going to the polls to select its flag bearers for the positions of Woman Member of Parliament and District Chairperson for the new district of Rubanda which was curved out of Kabale District.
Dr. Odoi while addressing NRM aspirants and supporters at Rubanda district headquarters in Rubanda district warned MPs and leaders from the neighboring district against interfering and intimidating voters during the election process.
He vowed to disqualify candidates found bribing voters. Dr. Odoi also divided his staff members to work with the sub county registrars noting that he has intervened in Rubanda district NRM primary election to ensure that they are free and fair.
Speaking at the same meeting, help the acting Rubanda district police commander Augustine Nakitari banned the opening of bars during the election time, warning that whoever is caught will be charged accordingly.
