Suspects Break Out of Kawanda Police Cell

Police in Kawempe are actively investigating the escape of three suspects from lawful custody at Kawanda Police Post.

Reports indicate that this incident happened on Saturday September 26, 2020 at around 2:30 am.

“It is alleged that the suspects, who were three in number, took a chance and pushed the window in the cell until it broke and escaped through it,” said KMP deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire on Monday.

According to Owoyesigire, all the three officers who were on duty at that particular time have since been arrested on allegations of neglect of duty and are yet to be arraigned in the courts of law.

The escapees who are still at large have been identified as Tumusiime Siraj M who was arrested on allegations of aggravated defilement, Micah Muzamir arrested on allegations of burglary and theft and a one Faizo Carbon alias Atim Moses who was arrested on allegations of theft.

Owoyesigire said that upon re-arrest, Police will charge all the three with escaping from lawful custody.

“Efforts are underway to have the suspects re arrested,” he added.
