On Thursday night, Police at Kasangatti rescued a resident of Lusanjja-Kiteezi village from robbers who had raided his home at around 3am.
According to report from Kampala Metropolitan Police, three suspected thugs armed with pangas and other house breaking tools, attacked the home of a one Bosco Sserwada and fought with a security guard identified as Robbins Mumbere whom they overpowered and tied with ropes.
They then embarked on cutting the main door to the residential house with intent to steal from the occupants.
However, before gaining access, Mr Serwadda noticed and alerted Kitezi Police station who responded immediately and found when they were still struggling with the door.
KMP Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire told chimp corps that Police shot at them killing one instantly, but two escaped with injuries.
He said that the body of the suspect was taken to city mortuary pending postmortem, but his identity has not yet been established.
This morning, senior officers from Kasangati including area Police commander, Division.CID and Scene of crime officers visited the scene.
“All nearby hospitals and clinics have been notified about any person who may come to them with bullet wounds for treatment.”
Meanwhile, police continues to encourage the public to make use of their nearby Police telephone numbers to report crime and also speed up response.
