The Supreme Court will December 12th commence hearing an application in which Lawyer Kassim Male Mabirizi wants the court to summon speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga to explain her role in the passing of the Age limit constitutional amendment.
The hearing notice was issued by Supreme Court Registrar and the Attorney General has been listed as the respondent.
Mabirizi wants court to summon the Speaker to appear for cross examination in the hearing of the Age limit appeal because she was at the centre of the new constitution amendments but at the lower court she was not summoned, and yet no reasons were given.
During the appeal of the amendments before the constitutional court in Mbale, a number of officials were summoned including the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi, Secretary for the Treasury Keith Muhakanizi and Clerk of Parliament Jane Kibirige
Mabirizi argues that currently there are glaring discrepancies on record which can only be cleared or confirmed by Speaker Kadaga.
If the Speaker is summoned and cross examined, he said, it will enable court to make a ruling once for all with whole evidence on record.
Mabirizi is one of the appellants in the Preside Presidential age limit judgement by the constitutional court that sat in Mbale early this year.
