President Yoweri Museveni has received and held a meeting with a delegation from Canada-based Plan International led by organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Joshua Liswood, who is also Chairperson of the International Board and Members Assembly.
Plan International is used by a diversity of organizations in Canada to fund some projects in Uganda.
President Museveni advised the delegation that called on him yesterday at State House, Entebbe to avail skilling programmes in the health and wealth creation sectors to refugees in Uganda that will not allow them to damage the environment.
He stressed that skilling programmes will play a crucial role in the promotion of the welfare of the refugees so that when time comes for them to return to their countries’ of origin, the education that would have acquired would further propel them forward.
The delegation, on their part, briefed President Museveni on the work they are undertaking in Uganda especially focusing on children, refugees and building the skills of the youths in Uganda to enable them address their challenges, among other matters.
The delegation revealed to the President that Plan International is active in a number of Districts in Uganda such as Kampala in Central Region, Lira and Gulu Districts in Northern Region.
The delegation further disclosed that Plan International has of late extended operations in the West Nile Sub-Region in Northern Uganda.
State Minister for Investments, Evelyn Anite, attended the meeting.
