Sudhir, Gov’t Strike Deal on Kololo School Land

Kampala city tycoon, click more about Sudhir Ruparelia has revealed how he acquired the contested Kololo SSS land through junior minister of Education in charge of Sports, Charles Bakkabulindi.

The information came out on Wednesday when the Special Committee investigating the giveaway of public school land within the Kampala Capital City Authority, learnt that the title of the six acre Kololo SS land is currently in the hands of Sudhir.

The tycoon allegedly told the MPs that he struck a deal with the Ministry after promising to erect a state of the art sports facility on the land and was later handed a 99-year lease.

After acquiring the land, Sudhir reportedly  transferred its ownership to Kampala Parents School which is one of his properties.

Some of the legislators were irked that Sudhir  skipped the ministry of Education and Sports technical team and directly dealt with Bakkabulindi to finally get the land.

In his defence, Sudhir told the Committee that he contacted the Ministry of Education and Sports, KCCA and Uganda Land Commission expressing his interest in the said land which he was subsequently granted.

“I wrote to the ministry, KCCA and Uganda Land commission requesting for a lease to develop a modern sports facility which I was indeed granted for 99 years,” a confident Sudhir said.

He convinced the committee after explaining that he indeed intends to set up a modern recreation center on the piece of land.


“The kids in both schools are my kids, they are your kids, they are our kids. They all need this recreation center, to play in. It is good for their learning,” he said.

He also explained he was willing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to underscore his commitment to the project.
