Stella Nyanzi Saga Rages on as State Toughens on Facebook Vitriol

The Prosecution of embattled Makerere University lecturer, Stella Nyanzi is taking shape as she returns today Friday for plea taking before courts of law.

Nyanzi was earlier this week charged with cyber harassment and offensive communication.

Prosecution alleges Nyanzi, 44, a medical anthropologist, on September 16, 2018 at Kampala District or thereabout used a computer to post on her Facebook page “Stella Nyanzi” wherein she made suggestions on the proposals inter alia that “Yoweri, I wish the smelly and itchy cream-coloured candida festering in Esiteri’s cunt had suffocated you to death during birth.”

President Museveni’s mother Esteri Kokundeka is deceased.

Prosecution contends this post on Nyanzi’s Facebook wall was “obscene, lewd or indecent”, hence slapping charges of cyber harassment.

The state also maintains by transmitting the Facebook post on internet, Nyanzi intended to “disturb the peace, quiet or right of privacy of president of Uganda with no purpose…”

Nyanzi is also accused of “willfully and repeatedly using electronic communication to post messages offensive nature via Facebook, transmitted over the internet to disturb or attempted to disturb the peace, quiet or right of privacy of the president.”

The controversial lecturer has been in and out of jail for hurling insults against the First Family.
