State House Anti-Corruption Unit Arrests 3 Police Officers in Joint Operation

A joint team of operatives from Police and State House Anti-Corruption Unit headed by Lt Col Edith Nakalema have Saturday morning arrested three Police Officers and three civilians in an operation.

The three were arrested for allegedly mismanaging a murder case committed in March.

In a statement by Kampala Metropolitan police, it is alleged that a one Vincent Serungi, a resident of Kisimbiri village, Wakiso Town Council, Wakiso district had a scuffle with Police Constable Kabosi Isaac.

It is said that Serungi was accusing the Police officer of using his motorcycle without paying for it and a fight ensued.

The Police officer with the help of civilians subdued Serungi, put him on the ground and informed another Police Constable identified as Wafula Stephen.

Constable Wafula rushed to the scene in an attempt to rescue his colleague. On reaching the scene, he shot Serungi dead. This incident happened on 31/3/2020 in Kisimbiri.

“The OC Kisimbiri Police post was informed about the incident and he downplayed it. The investigations were not carried out in a professional way and the residents complained to State House Anti-Corruption Unit.” Said KMP spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango

He revealed that a joint team was set up to investigate the matter and has arrested the suspects.


The Police Officers who are in cells include OC Kisimbiri Police post ASP Mugume Patrick, PC Kabosi Isaac, and PC Wafula Stephen.

The civilians under custody according to police are informants George Lubwoma Robert, Tonny Kayenike and a one Ceaser. They are all being charged with murder and mismanagement of a murder case.

Relatedly, Kira Road Police Station Friday night also arrested four suspected robbers and recovered a rifle from them.

Police said this followed an intelligence led operation by Kyebando Police Post in areas of Mulimira Zone, Nakawa Division.

Kampala police stated that their team at the post recieved information about a resident called Arimana Innocent who had been seen moving around with a gun in the community.

“Police swung into action and arrested the suspect and the gun was recovered,” reads part of the report

While at the station, Arimana was interrogated and confessed to be working with others.

The team set off and arrested his accomplices that includes; Masavu Joel, Bwambale Bernard and Mohammed.

The four suspects are detained at Kiira Road Police station on unlawful possession of a fire arm charges. The gun has been exhibited.  Investigations are still ongoing.
