Woes are far from over for Kisoro LC5 Chairman Abel Bizimana who was recently charged for assault before being acquitted by court.
Yesterday the Director of public prosecutions (DPP) announced plans to appeal against the acquittal.
Joel Kakuru Akatukunda, the Resident State Attorney asked court to be furnished with certified copies of records of the proceedings before formulating grounds of the appeal.
The Kisoro Grade One Magistrates court presided over by Moses Kule Lubengula on 17th October 2018 acquitted Bizimana against the case of assault on grounds that State lacked sufficient evidence.
Prosecution had alleged that the district chairman had in November last year assaulted and injured one Pascal Hashaka during his visit to Shozi Village in Nyakabande Sub County.
Court heard that Bizimana slapped Hashaka in the face, injuring his left eye as he tried to explain to him why a piece of land had been left out of the Rwivovo land, which was being surveyed by ministry of lands officials for the proposed construction of John Kale Institute of science and technology.
Bizimana claims the state attorney had personal interest in the case.
