The East African Community Medical Boards and Councils have awarded a certificate of recognition to St. Augustine International University (SAIU) for its role in teaching and training medical students.
SAIU’s College of Health Medical and Life Sciences was recognized for its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Masters of Medicine courses.
According to the EAC Medical Council, this certification is valid for 10 years from the date of issuance.
SAIU’S College of Health Medicine and life Science is recognized worldwide for producing national and international health workers that are unique for the evolving demands of the global Medicine practices.
According to the Dean, School of Medicine, SAIU, Prof Gakwaya Anthony, the medicine program is one of the Unique programs in East Africa being handled by senior and experienced lecturers who encourage individual student participation.
“Our students are from their first year, involved in medical training at different medical facilities that we have Memorandum of Understanding with including Mulago national referral hospital” he said in a prior interview with ChimpReports.
Other medical institutions that train SAIU’S medical students include Kurundu, Kawempe, St Francis Mutorele, Butabika, Rubanga hospital, Uganda Cancer Institute and Uganda Heart Institute.
The University also offers other courses that are also of international standards including Bachelor and Masters of Laws, Computer Science, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Forensic and Cybercrime, Marketing, Agriculture, Oil and Gas among others
The University’s main campus is located along Gaba road, a few kilometers from Kampala City center.
