The state minister for Sports Hon. Hamson Denis Obua has appointed a 7-man board of members that will run the National sports facility of the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The new board was confirmed on Wednesday 9th September after the tenure of the previous board had expired on 31st August 2020, calling for a new team of tried and tested personalities.
The new board was officially announced at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Sports in Kampala.
The new board chairperson is Rosette Lubwama Kebba who will work with veteran sports journalist Mark Namanya, city lawyer Anne Abeja, Veronica Mukyala, Mustapher Achidri, Godfrey Wamani and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Butaleja district Jimmy Ebil Ssegawa as the members on the board.
During his speech, sports minister Obua noted that the new board was selected basing on key factors including gender, regional balance, mix of skills, experience and knowledge.
Obua was flanked by the commissioner in charge of physical education and sports in the ministry of education and sports Omara Apitta, National Council of Sports General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel and the Mandela National Stadium Manager Jamil Ssewanyana.
The function also had ministry of education and sports officials including Sarah Muhumuza and Patrick Muhindai, all in attendance.
