Soroti Police Intercepts Stolen Car

Police in Soroti have Tuesday arrested two people suspected to have stolen from a Chinese national.

The suspects have been identified by police as Junior Byeruman, 28, a Rwandan national and a resident of Moroto Town and the other is Stephen Osiko, 26, a former driver of the same vehicle.

According to police, the suspects stole the car from City Friend Hotel in Moroto town, Moroto district, where it was parked.

The car, registration number UBB 614H of Kluger brand and white in color, according to police, belongs to a Chinese national named Hyang Xiuminig.

Michael Odong, the East Kyoga regional police spokesman who confirmed the incident, said that “after stealing the car, they drove via Nakapiripirit district to Mbale, and then again turned to Soroti to Lira.”

Odong adds that Police in Soroti got information and mounted a road block in Awuja Bridge where the alleged thugs were intercepted and arrested.

The vehicle and the suspects have been handed over to Moroto Police for further investigation.
