“Infrastructure such as roads and electricity are the foundation for development. Having it right in the economy would attract investments that would in turn increase employment opportunities and income generation in the country,” he emphasized.
At the event, the Director of Teachers at Work Development Programme, Judith Ewuchu, revealed that they were fully committed to working with the Government.
She reported that the Programme was training teachers in a diversity of income generating activities.

First Lady Janet Museveni has commended the wives of Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) for coming together to fellowship and help address societal problems by mobilizing their colleagues to live Godly and purposeful lifestyles.
Janet Museveni was meeting 35 members from the Military Wives Christian Fellowship who called on her at State House Entebbe on Friday. The group was led by their Chairperson Mrs. Jovanice Bossa and the Association’ Coordinator Mrs. Ruth Wakaalo.
Mrs Museveni requested the wives of UPDF soldiers who should have a big stake in the peaceful Uganda to join her in establishing a Prayer Altar for the country’s continued peace and transformation.
She said that during the ‘bush war’ some Ugandan women living in exile in Kenya organized themselves and always prayed for the country and she believes the prayers changed the situation in Uganda at that time. “God listens to prayers of women because they are the custodians of families, link http://chelseamamma.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/sitemaps.php ” she added.
She said it is prayers that have continued to uphold Uganda and bring God’s protection against many things happening elsewhere in the world and encouraged the women to always pray that the country remains at peace and never returns to the days of turmoil.
Mrs. Janet Museveni advised the women not only to concentrate on fellowships but to also establish income generating activities to help sustain them and their families. “It is important these days for women to stop being dependents but partners to their spouses in the families.”
Giving an example of the UPDF SACCO which she said is a big success, page Janet Museveni encouraged the wives of the UPDF soldiers to also start their own SACCO to which she contributed a seed and requested them to build on it so that it germinates and produces a bigger harvest.
She cautioned them not look at the SACCO as a source for loans only but as a savings establishment that will enable their monies to grow so that they can in turn invest in big projects to increase profits just as examples of the Asian women of Bangladesh did.
Mrs. Museveni who also listened to testimonies from three women whose lives have been transformed for the better with the help of this fellowship, ampoule charged the ladies with a new responsibility of helping other women so that they live in the way that pleases God saying that when people hurt even God hurts.
In their memorandum read by Mrs. Angela Etyang, they said their Association which serves under the Association of Military Christian Fellowship (AMCF) Uganda was established in 2009 and focuses on the fear of God, teamwork and vibrancy.
Their main activities include soul winning, counseling, worship and prayer, compassion projects, health activities and capacity building for income generating activities.
They thanked the male Army Officers who have supported them in many ways.
The meeting was preceded by an intercession for the family and nation led the Association’s spiritual leader Rev Canon Christine Shimanya who is also Chaplain to the Parliament of Uganda.
