A baking oven operating fully on solar energy has been commissioned in the northern Gulu district.
The environmental friendly facility was unveiled yesterday by Mr. Lorin Syminton, of Gosol Solar.
Syminton says the oven draws its energy from a large mirror connected to it which reflects sun rays.
He revealed that the oven will be baking 30-35 Kilograms of breads per day, without cutting down trees.
His company he said has trained up about 12 youths from Smart-up Factory, a local NGO in Gulu on how to operate this Solar Oven.
Janet Okeny Scovia one of the workers who underwent the two weeks training said she was excited that they will be able to bake cakes and bread without having to use wood.
Mr. Opiyo Joseph Otiti, the Youths Program coordinator with Plan International said they aimed at equipping youths with skills adding that they have partnered with Smart up Gulu Hub to train Youths in Gulu.
