Amid an upward trend in Uganda’s tourism industry, Slovenia, one of Europe’s reknown tourism destinations has opened up its embassy in the capital Kampala.
Located along Lumumba Avenue in Nakasero, the Slovenian Honorary Consulate was officially opened on Friday.
Speaking at the opening, HE Dr. Meera Vadodaria, the Ambassador of Slovenia to Uganda praised the two countries’ cooperation and friendship.
“Uganda and Slovenia are beautiful countries that share the same history. Just like Uganda is called the Pear of Africa, Slovenia is the Heart of Europe with the green mountains and beautiful valleys,” she said before urging Ugandans to visit their country.
The chief guest and State Minister for Trade, Michael Werikhe Kafabusa thanked Slovenia for choosing Uganda to host one of their embassies and promised support from the government.
“On Uganda’s part, we are going to do commerce consultations to have our own honorary consul in Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia). Uganda is keen to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Slovenia and to learn more from them in the areas of education, tourism, trade and pharmaceuticals,” he said
The central European nation is known mostly for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes.
