Yesterday Friday, High Court declined to release on bail Godfrey Wamala aka Troy, who is accused of murdering prominent artist Moses Ssekibogo alias Mowzey Radio
Wamala through his lawyer Mr Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi, had asked court to be released on bail pending his trial before the High Court in Entebbe.
He argued that since investigations in the matter were concluded and he was committed to High Court, there is no likelihood that he will interfere with investigations
High Court judge Jane Francis Abodo however, told the applicant in her ruling that his offence was grave in nature and that releasing him would be risky.
She further pointed out that being that Entebbe has a fully instituted High Court, she will write to the Registrar to have the matter fixed for hearing as soon as possible.
However Wamala’s lawyer Caroline Ninsiima was unhappy with the ruling and said they will continue seeking bail since the constitution grants Ugandans a chance to apply for bail as many times as they can
Wamala, who was a bouncer at De Bar in Entebbe is facing a charge of murder of Mowzey Radio, who succumbed to head injuries at Case Hospital on February 1 following a bar brawl at De Bar in Entebbe town on January 22 this year
