Shumuk Owner Charged With 13 Forgery Counts

Buganda road grade one magistrate Stella Amabirisi has charged Mukesh Shukla, the Chief Executive Officer of Shumuk Group of Companies with 13 counts of forgery, uttering false documents and Conspiracy to commit a felony, relating to taking over of Hotel Diplomat Muyenga

Mukesh denied all the 13 counts as read to him, telling court that he is not a criminal that the members of the public are being made to believe.

Prosecution alleges that on 17th April 2015 while Kampala city, with intent to defraud, forged a letter for the official hand over of Hotel Diplomat, purported to have been signed by a number of people who included the late Bonney Katatumba, Anne Katatumba, Angella Katatumba, Rudikiwa Katatumba, and ASP William Chegera.

State also claims that on 6th November 2017 at Makindye Magistrates court Makindye Division, the suspect uttered a letter purporting having signed by a number of people who included Grace Katatumba and others whereas not.

Shumuk was arrested on Monday over the alleged forged letter which helped him take over used late BonneyKatatumba’s property which included a building with a Hotel .
