Buganda road grade one magistrate Stella Amabirisi has granted a two million shillings cash bail to Shumuk group of Companies CEO Shukla Mukesh, and a 10 million shillings non cash bond to each of his three sureties.
Mukesh who was arrested yesterday and charged today with 11 counts of forgery, secured his freedom after court was convinced that he presented substantial sureties who will ensure his presence in court wherever he is needed.
“The offences against the applicant are bailable and he has presented substantial sureties with national Identity cards; he has presented a photocopy of National ID and a passport which shows that he is a Ugandan national,” the magistrate ruled.
Being that Mukesh didn’t carry an original National Identity Card, his sureties IDs were retained in court until Wednesday when is expected to present his original National ID to court.
The court further ordered Mukesh to deposit his second passport in court, having accepted that he possess two passports.
