Shs 1billion Stolen from DT Bank, 2 Guards Arrested

FDC presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has sternly warned State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, story Evelyn Anite of “consequences in future” should she continue harassing his supporters.

Besigye is currently on the campaign trail in Koboko District, site Northern Uganda.

Before stepping on the podium, seek Besigye was Monday informed that Anite, a clandestine NRM mobiliser was using money to decampaign FDC and woo people from attending the rallies.

It also emerged that local FDC mobilisers had been intimidated by Anite’s groups ahead of Besigye’s rival.

The FDC strongman did not hide his anger, warning that Anite is headed for tough times.

“If people like Amama Mbabazi are running away from Museveni and NRM who is this girl called Anite?” wondered Besigye as the huge crowd at Obachi grounds in Koboko town cheered him on.

“I have been told that she has been moving around town intimidating and harassing our people,” he added.

“Such people should be careful.”


Anite is remembered for kneeling before the NRM Caucus in Kyankwanzi before moving a motion to allow President Museveni stand as a “sole candidate” in the 2016 elections.

The controversial motion was passed and endorsed by all NRM leaders at Kyankwanzi.

However, Mbabazi would later distance himself from the resolution, saying it was not “legally binding.”

Efforts to reach Anite for a comment were yet to bear fruit.
Police in Kampala this morning arrested two security guards suspected to be behind a robbery where over Shs 1billon was stolen from Diamond Trust Bank at the close of last year.

The money was being escorted by guards from the bank’s Nakivubo branch and it was robbed at gun point before it reached the Kampala road branch.

Polly Namaye the deputy police spokesperson revealed that Peter Adama and Geofrey Makoba are suspected to have been part of the robbery and are now being held at Kampala Central police station.

According to Namaye, rx Adama had already given his wife Shs.20 million to start business in Mbale and upon arrest he was also found with Shs. 25 million whereas his accomplice was found with Shs. 150million.

Police says after the robbery, pharmacy the vehicle which was moving the money was parked alongside the road and security uniforms and the guns were recovered at the scene.
