Shot Stopper Kisembo Heaps Praise on Former Coach Abdallah Mubiru

UPDF FC goalkeeper, Douglas Kisembo has mounted more praise on former coach Abdallah Mubiru dubbing him as his best career coach.

Kisembo who featured for Police FC in two spells, between 2013-2016 and later 2017-2018 on loan from KCCA says has had many coaches but Mubiru slightly comes ahead.

“I have had many good coaches in my career but I will go with two Mike Mutebi and Abdallah Mubiru. And I think coach Mubiru is the best,” Kisembo revealed.

He added, “He knows how to get the best out of a player. He gives you confidence and you will always have his trust when doing what he emphasises on the field of play. He’s more like a parent and a guardian, he teaches you on how to develop as a player and an individual after football.”

The acrobatic shot stopper who started his footballing journey from Bweyogerere United narrates how he got to work with the soft spoken gaffer.

“I first met with him when he was at KCCA as a coach but the deal never went through. Later after that, I met him again when he had come to watch our game at Lugogo when I was playing for KCCA. He then told me that we should work together of which I had no problem hence processed for a loan deal to join him at Police. There was another opportunity to play for Bright Stars but I felt at home while playing for Police,” he said.

Kisembo goes on to commend KCCA gaffer Mutebi for his brand of football that has revolutionalised the sport.

“I also liked Coach Mutebi at KCCA because of the brand of football, discipline, smartness and teaches you a lot about how a proffessional footballer behaves plus living his life,” the custodian said.a

In 2018, Kisembo secured a deal to play for Tanzanian side African Lyon before switching to Biashara United one year after. However, his tenure abroad was cut short by nasty injuries that forced him to return home.

Last year, he joined FUFA Big League side, UPDF FC coached by Steven Bogere and anticipates to fully bounce back in the near future.

“I’m working hard for more new challenging deals because I feel I’m much more better and ready now to take them on and I’m eager to again welcome offers for proffessional football as I’m praying to God,” Kisembo said.
