Shoprite Supermarket today opened a brand new branch at spacious Acacia Mall in Kamwokya.
The new store has a bakery, hot food section and butchery in excess of gross leasable area of 2,400 square meters.
The Branch according to Jayte Slabbert, the General Manager Shoprite Uganda, will create over 90 new jobs.
“We are particularly proud of the fact that over 51% of Shoprite employees in Uganda are women,” said Slabbert.
“Shoprite Uganda is also proud of the fact that 76% of Shoprite’s fresh produce is sourced from local farmers. This shows our commitment to growing the Ugandan economy. Local suppliers are subjected to the same stringent quality standards and demanding targets expected of Shoprite’s international suppliers.”
During the opening, the sum of UGX 2,000,000 in gift vouchers and other Shoprite-branded prizes were availed through a Spin-the-Wheel Promotion for customers spending more than UGX 50,000 in the store.
The mall will also be rewarding a lucky customer with a “Toyota Wish” vehicle through a grand prize draw that will be held on 12th May 2018. Customers need to have spent UGX 35,000 or more in any of the store(s) within the mall to earn an entry into the lucky draw.
The opening coincided with a donation of stationery and groceries valued at UGX 1,000,000 to “Reach Out Orphanage.”
