The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) on Wednesday declined to accept nomination forms from Hon Nabila Naggayi Sempala who is seeking to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat.
The Kampala District Woman MP this afternoon arrived at the FDC head offices in Najjanankumbi to hand in her nomination papers.
The papers however, were rejected by the party Electoral Commission Deputy Chairperson Boniface Toteremuka on grounds that Mrs Nabila had missed the deadline.
According to the EC boss, the deadline for handing in the nomination closed yesterday.
“All elective positions apart from the party presidential flag bearer; their nominations for party primaries ended yesterday,” Toteremuka said, adding, “You are time bad.”
The Electoral Commission boss went on to describe Nabila, — who previously served as the FDC party spokesperson – as an impostor.
“It is unfortunate that an impostor came to the party headquarters purporting to be nominated. We have checked in our records, and she didn’t even pick those papers from the party headquarters or at the District FDC branch,” he said.
“It is very unfortunate that some leaders can be dishonest to that level of forging nomination papers.
Later on a scuffle ensued between Hon Nabila’s supporters and workers at the party officers are the former was being forced out of office.
