Uganda’s journey at the U21 World Youth Netball Cup officially throws off on Sunday with an encounter against Malaysia.
The She Pearls pooled in group C start their campaign against Malaysia at the Ditshupo Hall in Gaborone,Botswana.
Skipper Joan Nampungu is confident the team will overcome Malaysia in their first game to hit the road going.
“The preparations have been smooth and we are all set. Besides the weather that is chilly but we have acclimatized to it for the days we have been here and I’m confident we can defeat Malaysia,” she said.
“Opening games are not easy but the coaches have given us the necessary tactics and we are all set for the game.”
Uganda is in Pool C alongside hosts Botswana, Jamaica, Cooks Island and Malaysia.
The tournament threw off on Saturday with several games including hosts Botswana defeating Malaysia 72-26.
This is the first time that the tournament is held in Africa. New Zealand are the defending champions.
