The Uganda National Netball Team (She Cranes) has maintained its Sixth position according to the latest World rankings released on Friday.
The International Netball Federation (INF) released the latest rankings putting into account the international Championships that were held before the suspension of all activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Events such as the 2019 Africa Netball Championship held in South Africa and the Vitality Netball Nations Cup that took place in January this year among other international events were considered before the release on these latest rankings.
In the latest rankings, Uganda has maintained its 6th place in the world and second on the continent only behind South Africa despite her poor performance in the 2019 Africa Netball Championship.
The continent’s giants, South Africa are ranked 5th overall as Uganda, Malawi, Scotland, Wales plus Trinidad and Tobago follow in the descending order.
Australia tops the World rankings, followed by New Zealand as Jamaica leapfroggs England into third place.
New Zealand won the 2020 Vitality Netball Nations Cup tournament that attracted countries like, South Africa, Jamaica, and hosts England.
South Africa defeated Zambia 72-53 to win the 2019 Africa Netball Championship with a 100% winning record. Other countries that participated included, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
