Sewanyana: Kabonge is Still Katwe’s Coach

Katwe United FC Director Allan Sewanyana has dismissed reports about the resignation of their head coach Allan Kabonge.

Allan Kabonge “The Messiah” threw in the towel after side’s draw with Malabba Youth Development Association (MYDA FC) in the FUFA Big League at the StarTimes Stadium, last month.

The Makindye East Member of Parliament Sewanyana insists Katwe United has not received any resignation letter from Kabonge and is yet to receive information about any changes in the coaching staff at the club.

He however admitted that the former Paidha Black Angels gaffer has been absent from duty since the rumors started circulating.

“Kabonge is still Katwe United’s coach because the club management has not received any resignation letter from him, though the coach has been away from work,” said Seyanyana.

He added, “We kindly request Kabonge to return to work with immediate effect in order to fulfill both the club and his targets as agreed upon during the signing of his contract that binds him at the Club.”

Despite Katwe United’s poor performance in the League, the sports shadow Minister is hopeful that his team will emergent triumphant at the climax of the season.

“We believe that the season is not yet over. There are many games to go and we shall do everything possible in order to win the Big league title because we expect to win all the remaining games,” he said.

Earlier this month, Kabonge confirmed his resignation from the club citing politics and drama from officials as the cause, in his post match interview.

“There is a lot of drama here, Politics is too much yet I came to coach football. The referees have been biased. We had a clear penalty that was waved. Let me leave and give someone else a chance to coach. I cannot continue in such drama. I have a CV to protect. Let me try to pursue my other assignments,” said Kabonge who was appointed in October last year as a replacement for Hassan Mubiru.

Kabonge managed five clubs in Aurum Roses, Onduparaka,  Masavu FC, Paidha Black Angels and Kyetume FC, all guiding them to top flight promotion in the Uganda Premier League.

Katwe United sits bottom of the Elgon group on 9 points with 5 games to the death of the 2019/20 season.
