Vipers Sports Club will miss six key players going into their CAF Champions League preliminary round one return leg against Al Hilal Omdurman.
The six players including skipper Halid Lwaliwa, Karim Watambala, Milton Karisa, Geoffrey Wasswa, Abraham Ndugwa, and Livingstone Mulondo all tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday prior to the team’s travel to Sudan.
The development will therefore call for a mandatory 14 day quarantine for the players hence ruling them out of the Thursday traveling squad.
The six players now join other absentees including Allan Kayiwa and Shaban Muhammad who are both injured while Aziz Kayondo and Bobos Byaruhanga are away in Tanzania for the U20 CECAFA Championship.
The Venoms are expected to depart from Entebbe this evening for the second leg encounter earmarked for Sunday 6th December.
Vipers Sports Club lost the first leg tie 0-1 at their home, St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende last Saturday courtesy of Bakhet Hamid’s lone strike.
The aggregate winner between Vipers Sports Club and Al Hilal Omdurman will face off with either Asante Kotoko (Ghana) or Nouadhibou (Mauritania) in the second preliminary round.
