Kampala Metropolitan Police is holding a guard attached to a private security company for allegedly shooting a woman and injuring another.
In a statement by Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigire, “At exactly 8:15 pm, Central Police Station responded to gun shots that were fired around Ben kiwanuka street , Upon reaching the scene it was established that a one Muhwezi Caleb, a guard working with Swat Security Company guarding Pioneer building allegedly released bullets killing one person.”
Owoyesigire identified the deceased as Bukoye Brendah 36, a resident of Nsambya Railway area in Kampala.
Another victim in the incident was also a woman identified as Nanyonjo Anita, a student at Kampala University.
Nanyonjo who was severely wounded is currently admitted at Mulago in critical condition.
“Caleb was arrested, weapon recovered and yet to give his statement upon what happened.
He has been charged with murder vide sd ref 81/23/01/2019 of Central Police Station,” said Owoyesigire in a statement.
Police said that the motive behind the shooting is still unknown, but investigations are still underway.
