Savio Kabugo Departs For A.S Vita Duty

Uganda Cranes defender Savio Kabugo has on Friday morning left for DR Congo to join his new club, our sources can confirm.

The tall gingatic defender signed a three year deal with Association Sportive Vita Club, more commonly known as AS Vita Club.

He leaves after a short spell with SC Villa and the player who his career has majorly been hindered by some injuries, had stints with Victoria University, KCCA FC and Proline FC among others.

His addition will be a major boost to the Kinshasha based club that is struggling to defend their league crown against run away leaders TP Mazembe.

He will also be a vital figure in Vita’s search for their second CAF Champions League title. The club that won the continental crown in 1973, will face off with Simba, Al Ahly and JS Saoura in their group.

Kabugo, in national colours, is widely remembered for that towering header that gave Cranes a 1-0 win over Ghana in the 2014 AFCON qualifiers.

The defender, comfortable in the centre back, is good in aerial duels and he will be a nightmare for weak forwards because of his intimidating body and physique.

SK13, as famously called, becomes the other Ugandan to be join the DRC league – Joseph Ochaya plays for TP Mazembe.
