Private security company, Saracen Uganda Limited has described fatal shooting by one of its guards at Quality Shopping Mall in Naalya, Wakiso District involving as regrettable and appealed for calm as police carry out investigations.
The company in a statement released on Tuesday, a few hours after the death of Kololo based Hickory Bar proprietor, Arnold Ainebyoona Mugisha, said their two guards were also injured in the unfortunate event.
“Saracen Uganda Limited (SUL) learnt of a regrettable incident that occurred this morning of 9th July 2019, at the Quality Shopping Village Parking Lot in Naalya, and that involved a fatality,” said part of the statement signed by the Business Corporate Manager, Moses Sebunya.
“Two of our guards who were involved in this incident have sustained severe injuries, and one is in critical condition,” he added.
“Upon learning of this incident, Saracen immediately informed the Uganda Police Force and took measures to restore law and order,” added the statement.
The company also stated that it has offered full cooperation to Uganda Police to establish what exactly led to this unfortunate incident.
“Saracen strongly condemns any manner of violence and seeks to promote law and order and harmonious interaction with the public,” he added.
They appealed for the observation of rule of law and the honor of human life.
“We assure the public, our clients, and staff, of our commitment to respect the rule of law, the observance of human rights, and sanctity of life.”
Police quoted eye witnesses accounts early on Tuesday indicating that there was a verbal exchange before the shooting incident.
