Paints Company Sadolin Uganda held a one day seminar in Kampala to sensitize painters on the need for observing professional standards in discharging their contracts.
Akzo Noble, the parent company’s commercial director for East Africa, Mr. Deon Nieuwoudt, who led the discussions and demonstration, said the training session at Hotel Africana was geared at facilitating, guiding and providing up to date technical advice and tips for painters.
“As Sadolin paint, key among the purposes of the training programme is to help develop the painter’s knowledge of basic paint systems,’ he said.
The training attracted painters from Kampala and other parts of the country.
These are also informed by the need to aid improve painters understanding of the tools of application, the characteristics of substrates as well as the preparation of surfaces for painting.
The seminar gave the painters the opportunity to learn how to apply a wide range of products and understand the application properties.
Mr Nieuwoudt further noted that Uganda’s construction sector was growing.
“We understand there is the need to inject a high level of professionalism into the painting aspect of the housing industry hence the importance of the training,” he said.
The training session was also in line with the company policy to help protect human lives as well as the environment through the marketing of top quality products such as the Sodolin Wall guard and Rain shield brands which were cost effective and environmentally friendly.
The team is striving to educate, inform and teach painters the best practice offered worldwide and intends to continue doing so.
