Rwizi Police Gets Modern Speed Guns

Police in Rwizi Region have introduced new modern speed guns that, information pills that are hoped to curb over speeding on the main roads connecting to the western region.

The new digitalized machines according to the Rwizi region police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi, are a major leap from the old fashion gadgets that were being used across the region.

Ssenkumbi told Chimpreports that the entirety of Rwizi region had only six analogue speed guns distributed in the 6 districts of Mbarara, Ntungamo, Ibanda, Kiruhura, Isingiro and Bushenyi.

“The problem with the old speed guns was that they were unable to capture a vehicle from a longer distance and sometimes could miss the vehicle registration numbers if it was moving too fast,” said the police publicist.

The new machines however sent in from the headquarters in Kampala are able to capture the vehicle from 600 meters, and also detect when it is overloaded.  It can also record an entire approach of the vehicle which can be played back to the driver as proof.

The Rwizi Regional Traffic Officer Patrick Mungasa is hopeful that the new gadgets will go a long way in enforcing traffic rules and reducing on the road carnage in the area.
