Police in Kisoro have in detention two Rwandan nationals alleged to have been part of the gruesome murder of a 42 year old resident of Nyabiyonga Village, in Mulora Sub County, Kisoro district.
The deceased has been identified as Samuel Safari, who police says was hit with a blunt object, shattering his forehead on Friday night.
The suspects in custody are Enock Mushengezi, 30, and Dusengimana Fotunatusi, 32, both from Gakenke in Cyabingo in neighboring Rwanda. These have been working as causal laborers in Kisoro.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson says the two are alleged to have beaten the deceased for yet to established reasons.
Maate says that the body of the deceased was discovered on Saturday morning at Chibumba trading centre.
He says police is gathering evidence and will be arraigning the suspects in court to answer to murder charges.
Hadard Nkunzimana, the Mulora sub county LCIII chairperson regretted the incident in his area and noted that security remains a big challenge especially at night because locals have insisted on drinking alcohol until late in the night.
