The South Sudan rebel movement under former Vice President Dr Riek Machar has rejected accusations of snubbing the Arusha agreement for the unification of the ruling SPLM party.

President Salva Kiir who leads mainstream SPLM also known as SPLM- Juba recently organized an extraordinary SPLM Convention in Juba where all other factions including the Machar`s SPLM- In Opposition and SPLM- Former Detainees were invited.

The convention attended by the South African vice president Cyril Ramaphosa and the Secretary General of the Tanzanian ruling Chama Cha Mapenduzi party; Abdurrahman Kainana was to implement the articles in the Arusha unification agreement.

All factions agreed to bury their past in the agreement signed in January 2015 and get together as one party.

All former party officials were to resume their positions before the break of violence in December 20013 and the sackings made in June the same year.

The 7th-8th January SPLM convention was to officially operationalise the agreement by including in the SPLM constitution.
