Dr Alexander Kampikaho, the Rukiga District chairman has fired his Vice chairperson Jackson Muganizi.
Kampikaho replaced Muganizi with Michael Kwarikunda Mbareeba who is currently the FDC candidate for the district chair in next year’s election.
Kampikaho is not seeking re-election for the same seat.
The chairman made the announcement on Wednesday during an emergency council session that was presided over by the district speaker Geoffrey Byamugisha.
Dr Kampikaho also made other changes in his executive, appointing Agnes Korukundo as the secretary for production and marketing in the place of Gaston Muhereza.
He says he made the reshuffle after he carefully studied and verified the newly appointed members.
Kampikaho added that the appointment was done in good faith based on the capabilities of the new members adding that it will add on the vibrancy and proper service delivery in the district.
“We are given the leadership by the people of Rukiga to serve for some time and we need to allow others also to come and serve; that’s why I decided not to seek re-election as LC5. When my term ends, I am will go and others will come in.
