The Rugby Premiership got underway with five games played on Saturday at Kyadondo, Legends, Makerere, Walukuba and Jinja (Dam Waters).

The most intriguing brawl was at Kyadondo in the area derby: Heathens overcame rivals Buffaloes to win 09-34.

Heathens captain Michael Wokorach was the star of day as he scored two tries to give the 2016/17 champions a deserved victory.

Gerard Ssewankambo, Romano Ogwal, Bishop Onen and Arthur Mukama scored the other tries for Heathens.

The hosts had led the first half 03-00 thanks to Aziz Kharim drop goal.

It should be noted that Buffaloes beat Heathens in both league games last season. However, Heathens had taken their revenge earlier in the Uganda Cup when they beat up on Buffaloes 36-08.

Buffaloes played without head coach Edgar Lemerigar due to the ongoing Safari sevens tourney.
