Rugby 7s: Kobs Edge Pirates in Routine Final in Jinja 7s

It was almost predictable that the Betway Kobs Rugby club was going to be crowned champions of the Jinja Rugby Sevens series.

It was even more predictable that they would reach the final and face off their perennial opponents, Black Pirates.

All that happened as if planned in a book.

The two giants entered the Jinja circuit with hopes of either sealing the title, for Kobs, or prolonging the chase, for Pirates. Kobs with

104 points and Pirates with three lesser as Heathens trailed in a distant third with only 76.

The Kobs were the better side throughout the muddy and chilly day as they raced through unscathed thumping Rhinos 36-00 in the

quarter-final before beating Pirates 28-19 in the finals.

Hosts Jinja Hippos Rugby Club fought hard to finish third after losing their semi-final clash to the eventual winners.

The win means that Kobs are all but sure of winning the title as the circuit enters its final tournament, the Kitaka 7s, hosted by Kobs at

the Legends on Saturday 24th of this month.
