Rubanda District Celebrates Independence Day ‘Differently’

The leadership of the newly created Rubanda district has celebrated the 54th independence celebrations at Hamurwa health Centre 4 in Hamurwa town council Rubanda district giving back to the underprivileged patients and painting the health Centre that is in a sorry state.

Led by the Rubanda County East Member of Parliament Henry Ariganyira Musasizi and Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema, about it the District LC5 Chairman, the team painted the outpatient department at the health Centre IV and also visited the patients, giving out a bar of soap, sugar and three rolls of toilet paper to each one of the 50 patients.

Biryabarema says that they decided to celebrate the Independence Day in a different fashion, to show the locals that their leadership is with them.

He also assured the health workers that their delayed salaries for last month are being expedited, noting that all the new districts are facing this challenge.

Dr. Brian Twinamatsiko, the Rubanda district director of health services (DHO) said that the theatre at Hamurwa H/C IV remains ill-equipped and has gone four years without conducting a single operation. It has no electricity cannot be run on a generator since it gets only Shs. 800,000 every quarter from government.

The facility which also serves people from the neighboring district of Kanungu lacks enough bed sheets as well as blankets as patients are always required to bring their own.
