Former NTV’s News Anchor Rosemary Nankabirwa has passed on this afternoon at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi Kenya.
The shocking news has been confirmed by the television company, MD Ms Aggie Konde in a tweet; “It is with utmost sadness that we announce the demise of our former staff Rosemary who has succumbed to cancer at Aga Khan Hospital.”
Nankabirwa has for the last few months been battling a fatal cancer known as Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma.
She passed on just a day after thousands of Ugandans joined hands to raise more than Shs 100 million for her operation.
The campaign which kick-started by the Television a few days back, climaxed yesterday in a car wash fundraising , at the Kampala Serena Hotel that was embraced by many Ugandans including President Museveni who contributed Shs5m to the cause.
Nankabirwa’s demise comes only less than a fortnight after another celebrated veteran in Uganda’s media industry and UBC’s news anchor Francis Bbale succumbed to cancer.
