FUFA Women Elite League Playoffs
Asubo Gafford Ladies 0 (2) – 0 (4) Tooro Queens
Tooro Queens head coach Rogers Ayesiga has come out to heap more praise on his players following the clubs’ promotion to the FUFA Women Super League.
Ayesiga’s side qualified to the top flight after a 4-2 penalty shootout victory against Asubo Gafford Ladies after a goalless draw in the normal time on Monday at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
According to Ayesiga, the entire team was united for a common cause before the playoff duel and has attributed their progress to the players’ determination.
“We had good preparations right from the regular season when COVID-19 pandemic hit us and we worked hard in training and during matches,” Ayesiga noted moments after the final whistle.
He added, “We shall have to compete than merely participate in the FUFA Women Super League. Therefore, the planning process starts immediately.”
Sumaya Komuntale, Violet Kyererezi, Jolly Kobusinge and Joanita Awembabazi converted their respective kicks for Tooro Queens.
Asubo Gafford Ladies’ two goals from the spot were converted by Rachael Tukamuhebwa and Diana Nantongo while Sheeba Zalwango and Nulu Nankyanzi squandered their chances.
Tooro Queens joins Isra Soccer Academy and Makerere University who had already automatically qualified for the top flight as Victoria and Elizabeth group leaders respectively by the time the league was ended abruptly due to COVID 19.
